As I travel our community talking to my neighbors, they express extreme anxiety over threats to the quality lifestyle we worked so hard to build in Southern Nevada.

• A weakening economy jeopardizing our jobs, our homes and our health insurance
• Skyrocketing gas, energy and food prices eroding our family budgets
• Failing schools hurting our children
• An inability to get a mortgage or small business loan undermining our prosperity

Neighbors ask me why our schools are ranked amongst the lowest in the nation.

Neighbors ask me why almost half a million Nevadans have no health insurance.

Neighbors ask me why we are not making major investments in Nevada's abundance of solar, wind and geothermal energy.

The answer is that it does not have to be that way.

With the right leadership, we can turn it all around.
